I am off to Ghana for a few months on the 12th if anyone here wants coins from Ghana PM me in the next couple of days. the exchange rate in Ghana is around 10,000 cedes to the Dollar and the bigest coin is 50 cedes so they are not that easy to come by as they are not realy used in circulation. Examples I have picked up in the past have been WELL circulated. Coins are free and will be doled out on a first come first served basis.

Hi nohope587! Always keep me in mind when it comes to silver or BIG!!! I have a huge fondness for big coins as they are much easier to admire and my old eyes don't see quite like they used too! Let us know how you do!

It seems that there are more problems with this 'dark side' than I would have immagined. As you are aware, I am planning on obtaining at least one coin from each of the countries represented here in this forum. So far so good. Now I had tentatively decided on these coins being from the year of my birth. That sounded like a good spot to start. Well, that isn't quite what I had expected to find. Problem...I collected the list of countries and low and behold, there were countries there that I'm sure didn't even exist when I was born. Bummers! Now it's back to the drawing board. Any ideas?

You can try to get a currency coin from each country, or a silver, or a commemorative. Options are endless when it comes to collecting:)

Nohope:
I sent you an e-mail with my address.
I would love coins from Ghana, but would expect to pay for them, and postage.
Thanks for anything you can do for me.

With a little help from the 'better half', I (we) have decided that the year 1947 would be appropriate to have a collection from. That gives me until Aug. 2007 to complete and I can present it to the 'better half' as an anniversary present. Nothing like planning ahead. How all I got to do is not forget what the reason for making this decion is all about.

Old Dan if there is ONE thing a man can't forget it is the anniversary date! Also I personally think EVERY Knight should own at least one KNIGHT on horseback coin and there are a great number of them out there. I will be including a Lithuania Knight coin when I mail out your wooden dollar! Hopefully it will bring you much luck in your search for the BEAUTY of the realm!

Many years ago I put together a chess set from Coins The Coins were from the US & the Other side of the board were Australian coins by flipping a coin all the US coins are the year of my birth all of the Australian Coins are the year of my wifes birth.. No special pieces- all are in 2x2 easy to store and easy to use. Old Dan 1947 will be an easy set to put together for a youngster like you
