This coin measures 21.6 MM and the book says 21 MM.
Could this be a wrong Planchet error or just off centered? Thanks for your input!

I think you are right Grape. The date is actually in the stars on the reverse. Looks like 1965

I see an uncentered strike. What are the signs of it being a broadstrike?

Thanks for your thoughts. I don't know much about error coins and so I googled Uncentered Broadstrike. The coin gets bigger in size in an uncentered broadstrike? This coin measures 21.6 MM and the book says it should be 21 MM. I don't know if this would fall within mint tolerances. I am not thinking this is a valuable error coin just wanting to learn.

That .6mm is not within tolerances. The other reason I suspected a broad strike and not an off center strike was that with an off center of that degree some part of the design would be missing from the coin. In this case, the entire design including the border was present, however it appeared as if the planchet was too large, indicating expansion. Given that the only way for there to be the full design with expansion is a broadstrike, and that this broad strike isn't centered is what led me to my conclusion

Does this coin still weigh 3.5 grams? Also is there any reeding where the rim is normal width?

John: I believe the only distinguishing factor between an off center strike and an uncentered broadstike is completeness of the design. Since this one seems to have the complete design it is an uncentered broadstike.

I will look at the reeding where the rim is normal width and I will also try to weight the coin. Thanks again.

I have not been on forum for a while. I looked for this coin to weigh it but I must have misplaced it. Thanks everyone who responded to this!
