Dear friends,
I recently found out that the earliest issues of legionary denarius of Septimius Severus were not often with the portrait resembling Didius Julianus.
And I 've got two coins of legionary denarius of Septimius Severus.
To my opinion the second coin is exactly with the portrait resembling Didius Julianus.
Am I right?

I see Septimius Severus when I look at the beard, though it is a matter of perception. I have attached a Didius Julianus for comparison.

Thanks a lot Victor. I found the coin of Didius Julianus with the beard that is more suitable for Septimius Severus (I think so..)

that one looks a lot more similar, but I would hesitate to say that the engraver modeled Septimius from Didius. Beard styles were similar, as most men at the time probably wore them, same as today with various styles that are copied. I have a beard and glasses and once had someone tell me I look like Stephen Spielberg; which superficially is true; but I was not modeled on him or vice versa, just coincidence. Also, Septimius portraits remain consistent through his coinage indicating a fairly reliable early portrait.

Dear friends,
I want to share one more unusual portrait of Septimius Severus on my legionary denarius I've got today.
I think that it's much more fits to Didius Julianus.
