Help Me Identify If This Is An Error Please (1988 Lincoln Memorial Cent / LMC )

I am new at this so please bare with me.. I found this 1988 penny.. see photos... after the 1988 on the obverse side there is a (I do not know what to call it). I didn't think it was just a hit the coin may have taken. There is a high edge on that mark as you can see. What do you think? Report this Post to the Staff

merclover Bedrock of the Community United States 10635 Posts	Posted 06/22/2020 9:03 pm Yes, your coin has taken some sort of hit, known as post mint damage ( PMD). This is not a mint error, and this damage is of no value to collectors, so no premium I'm afraid, but keep searching! to the CFF! Report this Post to the Staff
