I was browsing through ebay auctions and I came across a lot of two South African florins that was about to end at under melt. Not knowing much about these coins, I placed a bid at a bit over melt value and ended up winning the lot at a very good price, well under what I bid. The coins arrived today, and I found out that this 1925 coin has the lowest mintage of the series at only 50,000. Doing a bit of research on this coin, I read that even in low grades, it may still be valued around $100. Now I doubt I could sell it easily at anywhere near that price, but for the $5 or so I paid for this coin, it's definitely a nice little bonus.

That last digit is pretty worn.

I did a quick search and found that on a 1925, the tail of the 5 ends above the tail of the 2. On a 1923, the tail of the 3 ends below the tail of the 2.

It looks like the tail of the final digit on your coin ends below the tail of the 2.

The more I stare at it, the more I am starting to see a 3. So maybe no cherry-pick after all. Still can't go wrong with silver below melt!
