So I was a couple coins short of the minimum for ANACS's summer special. Looking through the safe I realized I hadn't looked at some of my pre 65 proof sets in awhile. The OMP was doing more harm than good. So figured I would send in the Franklins and prob the quarters. But can't decide on the dimes, nickels and cents.

After the minimum, each additional coin is only $10. Plus I already added the $39 fee for conservation. One of the Franklins really needs it. That covers all 20 coins I might send in. So these would come back minus the cloudiness. Which could help with resale.

I'm not good at grading proofs, or taking pics of them. But thought I would post them here. To get a better feel for what they might grade. 9 coins total. I'll post one at a time.

With this penny, the first lighting set up showed more detail, but the second pics show the accurate color.

Not sure I can distinguish the true surfaces from the flash effects.

Not pitted, just the slight film build up you get from years of being in that cellophane. That will easily be removed with conservation if I decide to send these in. And no flash, just my LED lighting on the highest and lowest setting. Thus the color difference. That's the best I can do.
Rest in Peace

I've done if myself and I've had it done by TPGs. Mostly on modern silver commemorative proofs. The owner of my LCS has also show me some cloudy Kennedy proofs he sent in to NCS. They came back looking amazing.

Even if coins have always been encased in OMP, they can develop cloudy fields or hazy spotting. That's easily removed using the right methods. Maybe it won't get the coin completely back to a straight from the mint look. But it can get it 98% of the way there. And that makes a HUGE difference on eye appeal.

I collect foreign olympic commemoratives. Especially those from the host country that year. Hear's one I picked up cheap because of the lack of eye appeal. But I think I was able to make it look better. Nothing I ever plan on selling. Just wanted it to look nicer for my collection.
