! would grade this MS-61, and feel you paid too much. Just my opinion.

Coinfrog, I feel like I overpaid too. Ah well it happens sometimes. Here are the seller photos, the obverse looks really good on that one. When I was buying this coin I put it at MS64 to MS65 from those photos. What do you think from the seller photos?

I'd say they were unquestionably deceptive.

I would request that the seller accept it back. It is certainly not a described (pictured). There are many gorgeous 1881 S Morgans available and this is not one of them. edit to add - looking at the obverse images side by side I'd say the seller photo-chopped the image...

I've opened a return, you're all correct, it's like I received a totally different coin. I hate opening return cases but it's got to be done.

You've made the right decision. Get your money back and move on. Do not leave negative feedback.

Quote: it's like I received a totally different coin It is the same coin in seller's pics. but he/she managed to hide the numerous contact marks by playing with lighting to conceal them. Return is in order.

MS-61. The seller did a good job hiding all the bag marks in his photos. Always a crap shoot buying coins from photos. I would return it to the seller if you can.

Reverse is MS-64, obverse is MS-61. I'll net it out to an MS-62. Seller photos were deceptive.

Deceptive photography. Four oblique lights, that I can see, were placed to wash over the damage. Don't hate opening a return, hate an unscrupulous seller.

Sounds like you paid about $50 USD for it which is high for a raw, low MS 1881-S Morgan. It's a coin I would return if possible. If you do get stuck with it's not a total loss because it's worth $30 USD.

Ask to send it back and if they say no file a claim with ebay but hopefully they will just accept it back

I've opened a case and we shall see if it is accepted, it's only fair to do so. I don't think I've left negative feedback in my life so I'd only do that if it was absolutely deserved.

But ... what grade or condition did the seller indicate in the ad?
