My posting here has been a little sparse the last few days... I've been working on cleaning up and updating the ODP page on U.S. coins.

I'm really interested in finding "good" websites that are specific to individual types and denominations.

Just as a point of reference, I have some guidelines that I follow when it comes to including a site into the directory.

1. I'm not all that concerned about how "professional" a site looks. Some of the best informational resources don't look professional because the admin of the site isn't a professional web designer.

2. I'm super cautious when it comes to adding in sites with "hidden" affiliations. I've run across one "coin" company which has over 1500 different domain names and has attempted to list them all.

3. I try really hard not to link to specific pages but instead to the base domain. So as an example I wouldn't create a listing for
http://www.coincommunity.com/coin_facts/two_cents/
but would create one for
http://www.coincommunity.com/
Many times though the base domain is outside my listing area and so I pass the site on to another editor.

OK... So now with all that said...

I really respect the knowledge which is present in this forum and would love your help in finding good sites for the directory. So if you know of a site that I don't have listed please think about leaving a note here pointing to it. I'll then go check it out and see if it's something that I can list.

I'm not sure if you consider the colonial period as technically "U. S. Coins," but if you do, here is a link to an excellent site covering coins and currency of the colonial period. (It also covers some coins that definitely are U. S. coins, from the very early years.)

I don't know of any other US coin sites, but if you ever think of adding ancients to that list then this site is the best of the best:

http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/index.html

It covers Roman, Greek, Celtic, and more -- literally every possible coin and attribution.

Not exactly sure what your directory contains. Is there a way to access it now? Is any of it available? Is it for coins only? Is it intended for US coins only? Does it contain references to or for currency?
From what it sounds like your possibly looking for web sites like https://www.coppercoins.com where the site is dedicated to Lincoln Cents. Or are your intensions to link to only subjects in this web site?

point of clarification... it is not my site. it is the ODP (or DMOZ). the link is to the category that I am an editor of:
Recreation: Collecting: Coins: World Coins: North America: United States

Copper Coins is already listed... And rightfully so. BUT that is the SORT of site I'd like to add.

I've been looking for a site on the 2 cent, 3 cent, 20 cent pieces... Not pages but entire sites dedicated to those denominations. Can't find any. Talk about a great niche site if somebody wanted to make it.

This might sound dumb but have you tried Google or Yahoo. I just went there and typed in 2 cent coin and found a few web sites on just that coin.

The problem that I run into when doing that is that the sites listed are sub-pages of other sites... For instance this page
http://www.coinresource.com/guide/p...ntPieces.htm
is a good reference but it's a sub page of
http://www.coinresource.com/
and as such shouldn't be listed as a reference on Two Cent Pieces as the site is a reference on all U.S. types.

I know it sounds archaic and strange, but those are the rules that I have to follow when listing sites.

JustCarl - This is EXACTLY the sort of sites that I'm looking for. Thanks - and it's been added.

Bobby - Unfortunately, I can't edit your listing. CCF is about 2 or 3 categories further up in the hierarchy (I suspect they're in Recreation / Collecting / Coins). I can explain why your listing was edited though if you're interested.

Biokemist... missed your post... Those sites are great as well... I'll be adding them soon (I'm on a crazy slow connection right now so might have to wait for things to speed up).
