The number designation is my own and it does resemble Chuck's system in away. I found his to be the most impressive of all used since it tells the collector what he or she does need to know.
Since trail dies are unique in form, they needed a unique numbering system.
As for encapsulating this variety type, it will happen one day when the grading companies realize that there is money to be made. I am in the process of establishing a price guide on the site and that is just another step needed to help the process along in getting these anomalies slabbed. I do imagine that one of the lesser known grading companies will be the first to pick up on encapsulating trail dies and when they do, I'll post that news. Both Bob Piazza and myself are working towards this goal.
The coin photographed is indeed 2000P-1DER-009T and a bit earlier die state than the one that I pictured on site. Nice pick up on the trail lines from the bottom of STATES.
It does show that people can attribute their trail dies from the information on the site and that was what we wanted.
