Good morning all I just joined this community and I have been an avid coin collector since the early 1970's I came across a rare coin a 1851 gold liberty head $1 dollar coin , it is in immaculate condition. I tried to look up the grading of coins in that era and found my coin is in better condition than some of the coins that have a very high grading ! I bought this coin at a coin show in 1987 and have kept it in my safe since I was looking through my collection and pulled out this gem and was wondering actually how much is this coin worth and what is the grading of my coin. Can anyone on here assist me in getting the information I'm looking for

You could post some pics, the guys here are pretty good at grading. -or-
You could send it in and have it graded and slabbed.
Under tutorials there is a guide for posting pics.

Welcome!

If genuine, then it's quite a valuable coin indeed. For people here to assess the grade, you'll need to post good quality pictures of both sides so that people can scrutinise. There's a huge price difference between the higher grades and "better condition than some of the higher graded coins" could mean low AU to high MS, depending on what you've looked at and your own perception.
