SPP-Ottawa might be able to give you current a market value for the set. Hopefully, he will stop by and offer his insights.
FWIW, back in 2006 a set sold at auction for $690 USD. The coins in the set were described as "Gem" and did look quite nice - as do the coins in your set!
The auction listing mentioned that just 94 of the VIP sets were produced.

The set was auctioned by Heritage Auctions ( www.ha.com). A quick search on their site should bring the lot up - you may not be able to get the price realized w/o an account, however - but I've already provided the final price for you.

VIP specimen set. The coins are not overly scarce (specimen strikes can be gotten from the double dollar Prestige Sets).
It is the case, that makes these scarce - given to special visitors to the mint. I believe 1975 was the last year they did this.

May I be so rude as to ask (SPP-Ottawa) for an idea of value?
Thanks in advance for your consideration

Do a search on auction sites (icollector, Heritage, TCNC). The prices are high and these things rarely make reserve - demand is too low. The exception is probably the 1970 VIP set.
