1952 S Wheat Penny Error Coin? - Coin Community Forum

Maui808 New Member United States 24 Posts	Posted 08/12/2020 06:07 am Aloha, In looking at my 1952 s wheat pennies I noticed one of the s mint marks appear to be closer to the date than the other. Could this possibly be an error? If so, can you help me identify which one it is and Is it worth grading? Thank you. Report this Post to the Staff

Yokozuna Pillar of the Community United States 4618 Posts	Posted 08/12/2020 08:02 am The retained lamination is the small "flap" of copper. It's a problem with the alloy used to make the planchet. The copper can separate and peel away. Do a search for the term and you'll see images of coins with different sized laminations from just a tiny spot to the whole coin! Laminations still be attached to the coin, folded or missing sections of metal. ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T!
