Aloha,

In looking at my 1952 s wheat pennies I noticed one of the s mint marks appear to be closer to the date than the other. Could this possibly be an error? If so, can you help me identify which one it is and Is it worth grading? Thank you.

Mint marks were hand punched back then, so mint mark positions vary.. Your second picture from the top looks to have a retained lamination issue.

The retained lamination is the small "flap" of copper. It's a problem with the alloy used to make the planchet. The copper can separate and peel away. Do a search for the term and you'll see images of coins with different sized laminations from just a tiny spot to the whole coin! Laminations still be attached to the coin, folded or missing sections of metal.

The laminations make for interesting coins. The more severe the better. Congrats.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.
