Let me just say that this guy gave me fits trying to get decent pics! In hand it looks great, but whatever I'm doing makes it look scratched to oblivion. After a while, I started thinking that the reverse is somewhat PL which would explain some of my troubles with getting a clear image of that side. The last pic is to try and show how the fields are mirrored almost like an impaired proof.

I appreciate the optimism, nickelsguy, but I seriously doubt this is a mint state coin. I think it's low AU at absolute best. In any case, thanks for looking and commenting!

That'a a thing of beauty Spruett001. May I ask how you're taking those pictures? I've been meaning to set myself up to photograph my own collection but keep managing to not do it for some reason.

not sure where you are seeing wear.....the glare makes it challenging but I still see no wear on high points.

Spruett
I believe you lights are too close to the object!
use a Macro lens and "keep distance".
lights and lens at the same level. works for me

I'm not using any sort of "setup" as such. The main light source is actually the overhead light in the room. I set the coin nearly vertical on edge against a black piece of cardstock and have a DSLR on the table as close as I can focus and zoom in with a kit lens. I use a laptop to remotely shoot and preview shots. I use a small LED light in hand to highlight if needed. Sometimes it works great, but sometimes I can't seem to get a good shot and the smaller the coin, the harder it is.

Okay, I'll relent.
