Hi all,

First off everyone here is very generous with their time and expertise which is why I have this question in hopes to save you all time from answering my newbie questions more than once :)

I feel like I'm getting better at spotting die chips, just easier to spot as I'm sure you all knew already. But when it comes to these, are they actually worth hanging on to? Is there a cardinal rule regarding die chips (size or placement) that makes them worth anything more than face value or have collectors appeal?

At this point I hang onto anything odd, but I imagine that will change as my collection grows and I learn more. I'd love the thoughts of the group on this, in hopes that it helps me, and saves you all from answering 100's of future die chip questions from me :)

Thanks again, so glad to find this forum.

Hello GBiscuits,

Im a newbie as well so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I've been keeping larger ones and spending the smaller ones. I've seen the larger ones on ebay for between $5 and $50, and the small ones for 50c to $1.

GBiscuits,
Pic 3 & 4 are small and add no value. Pic 2 looks like a somewhat nice size chip just below the top band? That might hold a small premium. If you look at ebay sold values it will give you an idea on what size die chips collectors are interested in buying. When you find a die chip ask yourself, would I pay good hard earned money for it? That should answer your question.
