The Bank of Canada has an on line Inflation Calculator, which is free and simple to use. Australia has an almost similar free calculator, for public use. This tool has is mainly used by tax agents on behalf of their clients for use in calculating the non tax inflation component of any investment, but it can also be applied quite legitimately to all bullion investments. silverwolf Pillar of the Community Canada 3733 Posts	Posted 08/17/2020 8:50 pm inflation calculator's are worthless, so is paper money apparently, if you paid 1000$, and it's still worth 1,000$ then you broke even., To say inflation means your 1,000$ should be worth 1,200$ at todays price, is not fair.. If it was in stocks, it could be worth much less, if it was in bonds, it could be worth much less.. I believe anything that is held long term , will go up or down.. and if you sell for more than you bought it for , you win.. Yet very few of us will because for most of us this is a hobby more than it is an investment. I steadily liquidate and reallocate investments for a number of reasons. But I hold specie in a different category, like old books and musical instruments. Things like nuggets and darics can't be liquidated as easily as a 5 year CD or a mutual fund.
