How would the trends scale run if there was one for Cameo - Heavy Cameo - Ultra Heavy Cameo I'll use coins in MS-65 condition.

How much of a premium would be added for each level of Cameo coins.

Would it be a % figure of an MS-65 premium or set $ figure for each level above MS-65 trends.

Depends of course.....modern sp coins almost all have UHC, but try to find an UHC in a MS coin from the pre 1970 days.....
I would guess a MS65 in UHC from a silver dollar would attract a premium of 5 times or 10 times multiple over a non cameo.....IF you can even find one.....I'm guessing a 1962 $1 in MS64 would fetch a bit more than melt value, say $25, while I paid almost 20 times that amount for this 1962 $1 MS64 UHC in 2011.

I have a soft spot for business strike HC and UHC coins.
There is no formula to determine value, each year and each denomination is unique, some years have plenty of HC and UHC and other years have few to none.

It is all about the eye appeal... sometimes you find them in BU rolls, mint bags and PL sets for almost nothing. I have some amazing cameo pieces that I love... some I found, some I bought for a hefty premium.

PCGS is much stricter than ICCS with the cameo and deep cameo designation, because both sides have to show the effect, and it has to be quite strong.

I agree some years they were just as nice or nicer in business strike coin as apposed to the PL or SP with the Cameo + appearance.

I have several in the Canadian 1962 - 1968 silver 10 + 25 cent MS coins mainly.

I also have some in the 50's again 10 + 25 cent MS coins.
I have the same soft spot you talk about DBM for Cameo + coins especially the Ultra Heavy Cameo's in high grades

I know years ago when I was sending coins to ICCS they graded the Ultra Heavy Cameo coins hard both sides had to be Heavy Cameo I don't know about now SSP. I haven't tried any with PCGS as of yet maybe soon I have a few very nice Ultra Heavy Cameo MS-65"s

That's wonderful but I believe they only attribute the cameos of PL coins not MS coins which is what we are discussing. I have quite a few PCGS graded MS coins with nice cameos, none of them noted on the holder. CCN regularly publishes prices for PL cameo,HC and UHC coins but not for MS coins.

I buy a lot of 1962 coins being my birth year. I can provide you the following hard data for 1962 silver dollars:
ICCS $1 MS64 No Cameo $20
ICCS $1 MS64 Cameo $80 ( in 2010)
ICCS $1 MS 64 Heavy Cameo $160 (on ebay now)
ICCS $1 MS 64 Ultra Heavy Cameo $425 before taxes and mail (in 2011)

My somewhat limted experience with sending coins for cameo grading to ICCS is they only care about the obverse.

When you submit a coin to ICCS, do you need to specify cameo or will it be done automatically by them?
