Hi friends and respectful forum members I would like to get your expert opinion on this.

I am investigating about the coins of Egypt during French Invasion 1789-1801. I have an instagram page about coins and I want to share a post about these coins in my next post.Unless there are a lot of points seem to be certain in each source but because they are contradicting they dont seem as certain as its mentioned. My doubt about these coins are...

The coins have 1203 islamic year which is 1788. Unless the French did not arrive until 1798.

Even though the coin is minted in the name of the Ottoman sultan Selim III Its believed that the initials of Napoleon exist on these coins. They claim that there is an arabic B letter in place of regnal year in these coins but I cannot find it on the coin.

Also its believed that these coins are minted on the boat while french were sailing to invade egypt. If so why did they minted ottoman coins? It seems much possible for me that they carved an initial B on the coins in circulation. but I cannot find the B either.

I never knew that these coins existed.
Here is what I have been able to find out about them.

The above pictures were taken from a Heritage Auctions coin:

Napoleonic Occupation. Gold Zeri Mahbub 1203/14AH (1801), KM152, DeMey & Poindessault 857. Choice AU, incredibly bold strike with every detail beautifully expressed. A fabulous coin which must be the finest known, and a very rare type. The regnal year 14 is clearly engraved over an earlier mintmaster mark. 22 mm, 2.07 grams.

The Arabic '14' (looks like a '1' and a 'W' on its side) is on the coin reverse left side of the third line from the top.

Here is a Stephen Album auction for an Egypt Napoleonic Occupation coin with the Arabic 'B' in the same place:

The Arabic 'B' (looks like a 'U' with a dot underneath it) is on the coin reverse left side of the third line from the top.
