Hi all,

Can anyone please tell me what the special nature of the "star" designation is? I saw one on ebay and the grade surprised me, as I saw several "flaws" on the coin photo (NGC Cert 5861746-003). I have 40 JFK halves, all of which I believe are in MS (61-poss 67) and the 10 or so I gave an estimated grade of 64 are in better condition than the one in the photo.

Thanks.

Bill

NGC defines the star:

Quote:
NGC defines its star designated coins as those that have exceptional eye appeal.

Looks like it might have a proof like obverse. I think it's common in US coins to give a star when one side is clearly PL.
