i am pretty sure it is from ethiopia but I dont know the denomination or year

It is from Ethiopia. I believe its a 5 cents coin from 1944.

Now that I know where to look, I see you're right. It looks exactly like the penny but I measured it at 20mm while the penny is about 16mm. Thanks!

Ethiopia 5 cents, copper 20mm, KM#33, date approximate (this one is probably struck between 1944-62 in Philadelphia).
