A friend of mine emailed me about the T/P'd 1893 (it's actually a quad punched) that we put in the 2011(65th edition) of Charlton in the Vicky variety section. He wanted to know if there were any 1893's that did NOT have a D/C between the Dei and Gratia, as well as a large D/C thru the last A in Canada. Here's what I found with my hoard (and I have 5 of the Q/P'd ones).

I looked through 83 1893's and found NO 1893 Q/P's that did not have the D/C markers on the Obv. And I found no other 1893's that had those markers that were NOT Q/P's in the date. Again, there are 3 kinds of D/P's and a T/P 1893, in addition to the Q/P that we put in the book, but named it a T/P. I have posted photos of the same 1893 coin that we used in the book, with the pic taken at 60X of the 9 and it's definitely Q/P and not a T/P. Again, there is a T/P that we did not put in the book availe for you "lookers"..

1 out of 1 4-punch here, with both die cracks. No other coins (20) with either of the same die cracks.

So I went to check mine and mine has the same markers that you mentioned here but my only problem is that it's graded by ICCS and it's marked as a tp3 vf30 Should I send it back for regrading or leave it the way it is. Is there a big price difference between the quad 9 and tp3.

Since that's what we originally named it (1893 T/P' 9), that's what it always be called by the TPG's. But it actually IS QP'd. Since most people know this as a TP, then the price for it will remain as it is now. The prices that we put in the 2011 Charlton would still be valid (maybe a little growth since 2011). I doubt whether ICCS would change the variety name, until it's recognized by formal writings or reference books.
As you can see by the attached binoc pic, it really is quadpunched rather than triple punched. We just named it wrong 10 years ago. I have 5 of them.

Whoops, wrong photo. This one is clearer to see the 4 th punch.
