Please-Help-Regarding-Found-Token-Picker's-Token

Greetings. Newbie here. I happened across this token, which had been kicked out of a rabbit warren near where I live in Woking in the UK. It is a simple thin stamped metal (tin?) disc bearing the name H. E. CARTER, a face value of sixpence and the manufacturer Spink & Son, London. I'm sure it is not even worth sixpence, but I am curious as to what it might have been used for, and when. I contacted Spink & Son, now - as I'm sure you know - a well established auction house, but they haven't replied. So I hoped you experienced folk might be able to help.
I did happen to find a similar token for sale on a US auction site, also bearing the name H. E. Carter, but for 10 cents and marked Yukon, Alaska. The listing gave a date of 1898.
Since I have no idea about this token, any help would be gratefully received. Thank You.

Thank you!

Incidentally, the token is 31mm in diameter, if anyone wanted to know.

Hi John

Thanks. Nothing on the other side but the reverse of the markings so it's literally just stamped.

It is a picker's token or tally. Workers on farms would receive these depending on how much produce they had picked. They would then be redeemed for hard cash on pay day.

According to the 1913 Surrey trade directory Henry E. Carter was a farmer in Woking.

Thank you so much! That is really interesting ! Funnily enough, I found it on what is now a bit of common land adjacent to Carters Lane. Presumably named after the local farmer.
