Hi,
The '1' in 1961 appears to have additional metal on the right side. I blew the photo up as much as possible so hopefully you can see it.
Has anyone seen anything similar?

Possibly a die chip. Can you enlarge this pic for us?

It is a popular die chip, some call it an "inverted last 1". There is a small demand and premium for this one.
