Hello,

I recently got 3 consecutive USD$5.00 notes. Are these appealing and would they be valuable in the long term? They're year 2003. Thanks.

Sorry, but no.

And especially if it's only 3 and from such a recent series.

I noticed you wrote USD, so if you're in a foreign country, you might be able to sell it.

The only way they would be worth more than face value was if they had perhaps a unique serial number that was all the same number like all 1's or 2's. All 7's seem to be popular too. There are other types of serial numbers that people collect also, one of which is called a radar note, i.e. the serial # would read the same front to back(301030103)

I have a similar question, so I will ask it here rather than starting a new thread.

I recently went to the bank to fet some singles for poker night. I got a starp of 50 new bills, all crisp and new. 48 consecutive serial numbers. None of the numbers are interesting and there are no star notes. Should I hold onto then for the future or spend them?

spend them Dhughes. I have gotten the same like you before. Brand new crisp 50s all in consecutive order. Unless they have some neat serial number, just spend them.

When I get a fresh pack of notes I'll generally keep a few and spend the rest. If it's a block (letter comination on the serial number) that I already have I'll just spend them all.

I have ones, fives, tens a few twenties going back as far as 1995 from doing this and did not go broke doing so.

When I was a bank teller, we had $2,000 in $2 bills all in mint condition with consecutive serial numbers in the vault. I called a coin shop to see if they'd be worth anything and he said he'd pay $2.05 each. Seemed like too much work for me to go through for $50. Especially since I didn't have $2K at the time.

no kidding. I just ordered $2600 in twos the other day, and they were in two consecutive runs- 1000 and 300. I already returned them after looking through them (nothing good) but didn't realize I could've gotten a premium for them. I can't possibly imagine who would really pay a premium for those though...
