NGC - Coin of the Day: On this day in 1901, President Theodore Roosevelt invited Booker T. Washington to dinner. Sadly, the sight of a white president and his African-American adviser eating together sparked outrage, and a similar event was not held for a long time. Washington was featured on a series of commemorative half dollars in the 1940s and 1950s.
