Hello All,

My first post so please go easy :)

I have in my collection what I first thought was an Irish 1806 Five pence token, however on closer inspection I believe this is a very rare 1806/5 example of which only 5 are known.

Link to my coin on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254734696335

Could I have some opinions please of confirming this and if so how would you proceed in terms of valuing and selling.

Many thanks all
Phil

Sorry but that is out of my price range. I'd be way to careful buying anything like that and it not being certified.

Hi coinschihuahua and !

While this is certainly a scarce coin in nice condition, these Irish tokens are nowhere near as extensively collected as, say, Morgan dollars or British bun pennies. It's quite possible that large numbers are lying around in people's collections and dealers' trays but their owners are quite unaware of the overdate. I think the only way to put a true value on this coin is to look at previous sales records.
