Hi all. I collect coins in a very minor and amateurish way. I ran across this in a box of miscellaneous smalls I'd bought in an auction. I assume it's a tourist keepsake, but I do like to make sure before I just discard it.

Appears to be a cast fake, antiqued with black wax rubbing.
there appears to be a casting sprue at the bottom of the coin, and evidence of a casting seam on the edge.
I agree; need weight and size.

Even though it is a fake I would be happy to have it included in a lot with other coins that I may be interested in.
Value as a fake? Nominally $1.
Good education to help to be familiar with fake cast coins.

Yep, documented fake with at least four examples across the fakes boards. Here's one:

I wouldn't discard it. Always good to keep them around for study. I've bought known fakes just so I can hold them in hand for close examination. Still, I have been fooled a few times.
