I am so grateful for this information. I really wish I'd found this forum sooner. The years of expertise that you all have, and the interest in helping newbies just makes my heart happy.
It's incredible to think I have a real 3 cent silver. I wish I knew what it was used to purchase, where it has traveled.

A counterfeiter is not going to waste his time faking any coin that sells for very little. Your coin is 100% real.

110% genuine!

The silver 3 centers got beat up bad due to their small size and soft metal. Other larger heavier coins had a field day with them jingling around in coin purses. Many 3 cent coins were also lost due to their small size. When found most had been hammered by the elements and had taken a beating from exposure.

A nice coin with a lot of neat stories behind it! I hope you enjoy it for many years to come!
