Hi guys, first I wanted to thank for helping identify counterfeited mule coin last week, it was disappointing but I learned my lesson, again thank you! I have another 2 one cent coins that randomly came in the past, a non-steel 1943 D cent and strange 1945 D cent, can you please take a look and let me know what you think about these, I would really appreciate it. 1943 coin is 2.70grams/0.095oz, unfortunately I have only 2 close ups of reverse with many scratches, I missed some files when saving, I might be able to get more close ups tomorrow if needed: 1945 coin is 3.16grams/0.112oz seems very strange, these are the best images from the same miniscope: Edited by alexgains 10/18/2020 03:02 am

First is thin copper plating over zinc coated steel. Second is thick copper plating over a standard brass cent.
Both probably done in a high school lab experiment. Both worth keeping to educate yourself for identifying further similar coins.

Does the 1943 stick to a magnet? The 2.70 suggests it is plated steel.

I agree with the 43 being plated, but the 45 seems to be a Dryer Coin to me.

1943 doesn't stick to the magnet, to verify I have a 1943 steel which did stick to a magnet, I don't know if it changes anything, isn't the weight too low for steel coin?

I believe 2.7g is the correct weight for a steel cent. The plating may negate the magnetic effect.

Looks like the 43 has the tell-tale Chinese counterfeit die chip.
