Strange Non-Steel 1943 Cent And Another Strange 1945 One Cent Coin

alexgains New Member United States 13 Posts	Posted 10/18/2020 03:00 am Hi guys, first I wanted to thank for helping identify counterfeited mule coin last week, it was disappointing but I learned my lesson, again thank you! I have another 2 one cent coins that randomly came in the past, a non-steel 1943 D cent and strange 1945 D cent, can you please take a look and let me know what you think about these, I would really appreciate it. 1943 coin is 2.70grams/0.095oz, unfortunately I have only 2 close ups of reverse with many scratches, I missed some files when saving, I might be able to get more close ups tomorrow if needed: 1945 coin is 3.16grams/0.112oz seems very strange, these are the best images from the same miniscope: Edited by alexgains 10/18/2020 03:02 am Report this Post to the Staff

sel_69l Bedrock of the Community Australia 21788 Posts	Posted 10/18/2020 08:22 am First is thin copper plating over zinc coated steel. Second is thick copper plating over a standard brass cent. Both probably done in a high school lab experiment. Both worth keeping to educate yourself for identifying further similar coins. Report this Post to the Staff
