If these are the photos to try to explain your question from 31 Oct, then the photos don't do anything to help us understand your question. You talked about a rim being "sharp" and that the thickness of the coin was different on different parts of the coin. I'm very confused.

I've seen these referred to as "struck thru water" before, but I'm not sure if that's correct or not.

And if it's only on one side of some coins I think struck thru is more likely than environmental damage.
