Hello I went to mail a roll of coins the other day and they wanted over eight dollars. It was a plain 5x9 grey poly bubble bag. That was more than the profit margin on that particular item. Any ideas of a better way to mail coin rolls? Breaking the roll down isn't an option in this case. Thanks everyone for your input.
Rest in Peace

I feel you pain . As a Lincoln and Jefferson roll collector who has virtually stop buying and trading rolls ever since the local coin shows have ended because of Covid-19 where I used to buy my rolls without paying for shipping . As far as shipping one or two rolls the postage is ridiculous , I try to use a small flat rate box and ship 10-15+ rolls at a time . Agree that's not always the perfect option to take , but the USPS have us over a barrel .

There is no cheap way to ship individual (or just a couple of) rolls. Shipping rolls only becomes cost effective when you are shipping multiple rolls and can fill a flat rate box. If you aren't using the flat rate boxes you will be charged the "package" rates which are HIGH.

All I've ever done is build the price into my listings. Doesn't bother me at that point.

A single roll of half dollar should not cost that much to mail, I ship them all the time for $3.64, Stamps.com or Etsy, that is what they charge me. I put down 8 ounces, a 7x5 padded envelope. When I went to our Post Office it was around $4.40 to ship them. Sounds like they charged you Priority Mail rates. Ship First Class Mail.

It sounds like it.
Ship first class and if you're selling on ebay, use the ebay's shipping labels, much cheAper than USPS

Lots of good info everyone. Maybe that's what they were trying to do charge as priority. So frustrating.

First class is not that expensive, you got quoted for a higher service level.
