Hello Folks,

I haven't seen any news stories lately but I've been seeing many fewer signs posted at retail establishments in past weeks. Is the national coin shortage in the U.S. over?

It has been over here in central Ohio for awhile now. One retailer is still asking for exact change, though no one knows why. My Girlfriend is a branch manager for Chase and she says that they have no problems filling orders.

However; back in the SF bay area, I have heard reports that the big banks are still not filling large orders, while the smaller banks and Savings and Loans are having no problems.

I use cash 99% daily. Haven't seen any shortage.

I can't say much about local shopping (since I rarely have any money and pay with plastic), but I can tell you that neither of my two banks will 'sell' me boxes of coins yet for CRH.

I seldom used cash before all this started.

However, I have noticed that the "exact change" and "credit/debit only" signs are less frequent now.

It's over at the moment, but if the shutdowns come back you will see the coin shortage come back again as well.

Sounds like a fair assessment. I am sure we will know within the next two months.
