It looks like an improper alloy mix, i.e. more tin/zinc in that area of the planchet. That is not toning. Another possibility is that area of the coin was subjected to extreme heat. Copper has a higher melting point than tin and zinc so when a cent is heated the they have a tendency to migrate to the surface. A good and fun experiment is to take a copper cent and toss in on a hot stove burner (on oven) for a couple of minutes and watch what happens. Take it off the burner and let it cool. The coin will be really neat looking and any surface residue or carbon spots will vanish too.

Found a 2004P 1DR-011 and the next coin was a 2004P 1DR-016 that was 5 min. after telling the wife this was the most boring box ever.

What did you told her after the finds coach lol ! Today I drove 40 miles to try a different area and got a Brinks box plus 14 cwr's ! Cwr= LWC 1909,35 and 4 common dates Brinks box= 19?,1919,1924,2x1954S and a totally awesome delaminated 1964 !  The reason why I posted the pics is because I wanted ask is there anybody interested in a 1909 ,1924d because you can have it lol ! Just a joke guys , how came to be that bad lol
