Yes! Really! I had to look at it in 2 different rooms, under different lighting on and off for about 2 hours. I dug out my ANACS graded VG-8 that I just purchased in December to compare, and had my GF look at it the next day.

The part I remember most tho is that I couldn't believe there was no rim dings, no verdigris, no strange blotches. It looked like a friend had bought it from a store and stuck it in a roll when I wasn't looking! Except, I don't have any friends who even KNOW what a 1914D is, let alone be willing to buy one!

I can't explain how much trouble I had wrapping my head around 4 numbers and a letter...

I did the same thing 3 weeks ago when I won a 50/50 draw at a golf tournament. The last 3 numbers are NEVER even close to being mine... but this time they were>

After 16 months of roll searching and about 200,000 cents - nothing close to the 1914D .

Ironically, I was at the coin machine in TD Bank on Monday afternoon (returning my zincs and steels from searching 4 boxes - none from THIS box), and got talking to a girl who put through $350 worth of change. She had all these tobacco tins in a gym bag that she said came from her (recently passed) father-in-law's house. It was the last chunk she'd exchanged and the total over the few days added up to $1,400! Mostly pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters.

I asked how long her father-in-law would have saved them. She said he was a Hungarian who immigrated to Canada in the late 50's and threw all his coins into carbouys (the large wine making vessels) in the basement. When they got filled he filled every can he could find!

I thought of all that 50's and 60's silver... And although I missed it for now, well, it has to show up somewhere, someday!

Your 68s and 55's finds are awesome! The 55s' have great eye appeal.

Ironically, out of all the pennies I got from 1909 to 1978 in this super box, the 68s and 55s were nowhere to be found!

And I always thought I'd have a heart attack too when seeing a 1914D. But I gotta say, it was a surreal feeling. Maybe because the dates just kept coming and it was no longer a surprise? I did kind of slide off the couch and just stare at it. But I always thought I'd get all animated. It still feels weird...

Lets not forget about the full wheat pennies box I found last year with 9 IHC's and many semy key dates plus 4x1909,1909VDB but your 1914D is just the supreme find ever to date !

News like that is what I'm waiting for to give power to back to penny search !

Just searched 1000 pennies (10$) today, I will report the result briefly here.
Total copper is 162 pieces, including 7 wheats, 4 S mints, and a 1973 canadian.
Also found 12 2009 cents. I think they are worth keeping too.
The copper ratio is within the reasonable range in my place, not very high though.
I am happy with the 7 wheats, because I only expect 2 or 3. nothing special, the earliest one is 1935.

So I havent searched a box of cents lately so I figured it was time. THE results

I finally started hoarding coppers. Roll low: 9 Roll high: 28
Good amount I think.

10 wheats: earliest 1940 latest 1958D
