What a hit today! Stopped in to buy some halves at a local grocery store bank branch, and they only had one, so I bought 20 rolls of pennies instead. I ended up with 327 wheats, 5 solid rolls and others mixed. Best finds today included 1909 VDB 3-1910's 1911 1912 1913 1914 3-1916's 1917 3-1918's 5+-1919's 5+-1920's etc etc Most everything was teens, 20's, 30's and some 40's with an occassional 50's. That 1909vdb made my heart stop for a sec while I hunted for that "S", but it wasn't to be. I've been searching penny rolls for a couple of years off and on, but I've never had a find like this. Going back tomorrow to buy up the rest of what they had since I only grabbed 20 roll's. Who knows what could still be there. Lots of fruit baby!..     |

Great find, Bman! Were the wrappers old by chance? I think old style wrappers tend to produce better results.

OK, not rubbing it in, but I went back to same bank again today and bought up the remaining rolls they had in case there were more great rolls. Found another 337 wheats for a total two day find in $15 worth of rolls of 664 wheats! DanMan, yes, 90% were in older looking rolls with a couple even noting years on the side and how many. Here is todays's breakdown: 1-1909 2-1910 2-1912 2-1913 1-1914 1-1915 10-1916 13-1917 9-1918 25-1919 17-1920 1-1921 2-1924 9-1925 2-1926 7-1927 5-1928 7-1929 7-1930 1-1932 3-1934 13-1935 12-1936 13-1937 4-1938 11-1939 11-1940 14-1941 6-1942 20-1944 19-1945 11-1946 18-1947 18-1948 2-1949 8-1950 5-1951 6-1952 12-1953 1-1956 1-1957 4-1958 Sorry for the long post, but since this will never happen to me again, I had to share! Yesterday was about the same breakdown...not bothering to note mint marks as it would take too much room. |

bought my first box today got 9 Canadians 5 wheat 57d 51 56d 40 28 before today my oldest was 1944 so I am very happy  still have to sort the rest for variations also got all the 2009 they seem to be the hardest of the newer ones |

Various mint marks, mostly plain and S with a few D's
The 1909 was plain, no VDB, which is nice since it fills a hole next to the VDB from the day before. This haul filled 21 holes for me total.
