jram!

Good luck and have fun on your first box. And those were some pretty good finds for just 2 rolls.

Didn't want to start a whole new thread, so I figured I'd post here. I'm thinking that I don't like the holes in my Lincoln Cent dansco, so I found a few auctions on ebay for 6 blank planchets for $8.50. Is this a good deal?

Also, how do the rest of you deal with holes that you're not going to be able to fill for a while? Do you prefer the holes, or would planchets be a better idea, or even something else?

Thoughts?

You may want to start a new thread if you want a larger audience.

My holes will stay empty until the proper coin is bought for it. No blank planchets or inverted duplicates for me. Constantly seeing the hole is a reminder and incentive to fill it with the proper coin.

I picked up box #5 (if my count is right). I'm happy with any wheats I find, but this box was forgetable:

1941
1944
1945
1946D
1949
1953
1953D
1956D x2
1957D

I have been finding brand new looking cents (red, shiny, and perfect) from the early 1960's while roll hunting. Are these worth keeping in your opinion.. or should I just toss them back? Thanks!

The general consensus is that you keep whatever makes you happy. Now, while that's a very diplomatic answer, it really is the correct one. I happen to keep them. It's only 1ยข, so there's really no downside. I am, admittedly a hoarder, though, as most CRH's are.

i tend to hold on to anything bright red and have collected over 30 full rolls of pre 70's cents in a few months. Then I sell lots of 5 or more together and make 5 times face if not more.

Good call. I could be wrong, but I cannot imagine them losing value, even against inflation.
