Worked on finishing half of a bag and starting another bag this AM.

Found 1890 IHC in G+/VG-

Also banged up 1911 wheat.

Normal copper and several avg wheats - mostly 40s/50s.

Thanks. No letters on liberty or maybe very faint at best so it wouldn't grade VG, but it appears to be better than G. So I say G+/VG-.

Doesn't really matter to me as it is not high grade, but I love it and will keep it.

I keep a couple/few albums going per series. I put my best circulation finds in my 'firsts' album and any high grade specimen I can collect off the bidding board at my LCS. I then have my seconds (and thirds) folders where I keep my best/second best circulation finds. The IHC there would make it in my seconds folder and like you, I'd be delighted to have it. I have a few sentimental exceptions: an 1888 and a 1905 IHC in G condition in my 'firsts' album. The 1905 found atop a junk pile in the middle of the woods and the 1888 was the first IHC CRH find by my brother. It's nice to look at the coins and be taken back to a couple nice events. I may at some point, put them in separate holders, but when folks look at the stark difference and ask why that is - I have a couple stories to tell.

That's a big part of why I enjoy coin collecting so much Rackster. Thanks for that.
Just this week while dumping I had a bit of a fun find. I broke the machine somehow and so while working on it the bank manager dumped a trash tray from inside the machine into a garbage can. I heard coins hit the bottom and shamelessly dug into the trash in front of her and grabbed out 5 foreign coins. She didn't care and I gave them a new home.

So can I just hand a bank tell a roll of pennies and ask for another? Also what is the chance of me getting the same roll again the next week I come back? Should I mark them?

Cool Rackster. I keep a set for each of my kids - 2 Jefferson nickels, two wheats 09-40 and 40-75

The 09-40 sets are only missing the big 3 each. Have found most in circulation or in big hoards. Bought a few hole fillers

40-75 sets are all found

Have a set of buffs for one kid - only missing one or two. Most found as above

Started set of IHC. Most traded for, some found some bought

Will let the kids fight over the single set of buffs/ihc - each gets one

Sell a lot of the extras To pay for hole-fillers and silver. I don't keep much else

Rdlem - no shame. I found that a few tellers will set those aside to see if I'm interested. I appreciate their interest in finding a good home! Some really cool coins to be had that way.

goobot - you can do that and replacing one-for-one on a small scale shouldn't present an issue. It's larger dumps that you need to plan accordingly. There you'll need a dump site or two and your pickup bank. I dump where I pick but I have a planned arrangement.

Cbass - similar plan on my end. My brother and I started the collection years ago. So my aim over the past year has been to split the board and create duplicate sets. Eventually we will leave one set for each (my brother doesn't have any kids) so each will have the coins and the thought that dad and uncle gave a part of their being to them. Third sets are up for grabs by anyone interested (nephew or niece or whoever). Won't matter much to me at that point.
