Been super crazy busy to start the new year... but I just HAD TO take some time share this find with you guys. The weak "LIBERTY" made this coin a dead giveaway... only the 2nd 1970-S Small Date cent I've EVER found!

Thanks, jbuck... lots of other new stuff to share on this, the nickel, and Coinstar threads. Probably will be in the next day or two. I also completed my 1941-1958 CRH Wheat cent set this past week...

John77.... Since Nov 2014 have looked through over 500K bank rolls and have yet to find one of those, need to fill that hole! As for spectacular finds, the oldest was an 1886 Ty2 IHC that musta been Granpa's collection, too good of shape and a bunch of stamped LMC's Kennedys, US States, greased die errors, fakes. I usually find about 5-15 Wheat cents and 2-4 Canadians in each $25 box, how about the rest of you, the same? Happy Hunting! sure is fun

Crazyb0, I don't know if I'm lucky or what, but I usually get 0-2 wheaties per ROLL. (I have yet to buy a box though)

Roycoinboy: Yea, say that's lucky...most I've ever found is 65 out of $20, non-boxed but bank-rolled in Branson Mo. Tourists? It was in that batch found a AG3 (?) 1909VDB, best wheat find. Forgot to upload pix on last post of oddities found, all from rolls believe it or not. Quote: only the 2nd 1970-S Small Date cent I've EVER found John77, Congrats! (Can I have it? ) I've searched boxes, bought BU rolls, Mint and Proof packs for the 70S small date and DDO's.. **(No Zip Files Allowed)** , nada, zero...still lookin' tho. Have found a raw 70S PF@65 as minor DDO but can't seem to find it now Really enjoy the hunt, game on!

Happy Hunting! sure is fun Crazyb0, I need to tally up how many cents I've been through... maybe 125,000 or so? I'm guessing. Being in California also helps my odds. The only other 1970-S Small Date I found was back in 1990-1991 when I went through the 7 rolls of them I had saved up from the time I was a youngster. The scanned photo actually doesn't do the coin justice. It's got a good amount of mint luster still on it. I'm finding a wheat approximately every 250 coins searched, so about 10 per box.. but it varies a lot... For example, I got $13 of very "copper heavy" (10-20 coppers per roll) MW String&Son rolls the other day and didn't get a single wheat, while yesterday I got $11 of similarly "copper heavy" MW String&Son rolls and found eight wheats. Finding Indiams, 1909 VDBs and of course 1970-S small dates makes it a whole lot of fun... the thrill of the hunt! Quote:

I save all of my S minted Memorials - throw them in a big coffee jar... I am pretty sure though there aren't any 1970-S small dates lurking there, as my eyes are trained to look for the weak "LIBERTY" whenever I see a 1970-S... but who knows? Maybe I missed one. I will be going through that jar one of these weekends.

The two best coins from a box tonight: 1913 Lincoln (hole-filler!) and a 1940 George VI. There were only six LWCs in this box, but the 1913 made up for it.
