Yanks, I'm thinking that wheat is a 1918... Unless my eyes are deceiving me, that second coin looks like it was struck from a heavily greased obverse die - a nice mint error.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

Might it be a late stage die cap error?

John from my picture it does look like it's 1918 but in person it looks like 1910. Just to hard to tell.

I'm not familiar in recognizing those errors. I thought someone may have buffed it or used something to smooth the surface but after looking at it again there is no evidence of any damage or marks on the rim. Thanks for the input everyone and if anyone else has an opinion let me know. Thanks!

@yanks21

I think you should get better pics of that second one and post it in the Error forum. My first thought was that it looked like an error.

Looks like an error to me too. Yanks may be the first person here to assume damage and have it be an error.

Thanks for giving me a heads up my LMC. I posted it on the errors and variation section and it didn't take long to get some answers.

Spruitt101 thanks for the advice.

IIIegaltender I got a kick out of that. Your right, lots of damaged coins on there and people think they are errors.

Just found this nice 1998 WAM from some CWRs. There was not a single copper in the bunch. Did find a 1918-S in G-4 from some CWRs.

Looks like it to me too! I'm pretty certain of it - that's an amazing find. I've only seen someone post one here a few times in 10 odd years. It's a valuable coin if genuine but better pictures are needed.

WOW! Only like 6 million of these were made. Looks to be around VG and no damage.
