This one was found inside bag #3....a few minutes ago.    The bank still has 6 more bags they're holding for me...  Bags #1 and #2 yielded about 20+% copper...and averaged 20 wheats per. The oldest was a 1919. Quite a few S-mints in circulated condition as well. |

Great find Scotty! I found my first lincoln with an extra finger yesterday (lincoln sitting on log). Yes I know you can buy them on ebay for $1.99 plus shipping but it was still nice to find my own "in the wild". This week also came up with a few bu 1962 lincoln memorial cents and an increadable 1968 S. It is so rare to find bu coins in excellent condition amongst all the circulated stuff in these boxes. Am hoping to have some money on Monday. Bank got in $200.00 worth of customer wrapped rolls of pennies and I am chomping at the bit to get them! I hope to have a great weekend of sales as I would hate to let them go back to Brinks before I got a shot at searching them. Sincerely, John Leckrone |

Well, I am just halfway through my first box ever (I swear I don't know how you guys get through a box in a day!), and just thought I'd update. So far, I have found 42 coppers - several nice red 80-82's, a nice red 70D Lg Date, a nice '73, and nice red (but worn) 60D lg date. No wheats, 2 wavy steps, and a really nice '03P die chip that I posted in the error/variety forum that coop gave an 8 out of 10! I love that coin! Wasn't sure if I should double post here or not? Not sure if you guys (and gals, no disrepect, you're ALL "the guys" to me) are posting curiosities or not, but I found this guy interesting. A '63D woody, with MD across his face and neck, and a little die chip running down the last column on the reverse. I hope the 2nd half of the box is just as fun!   |

Just some pics of things from the past $100 worth I've been through. Pic 1...a counterstamped 1991 D  #2...a honeycomb 1996 D  #3...a 1970 S with a strange "die-chip/post-mint-damage" mark on the "9"   #4 and #5 are pics of some cool gas bubbles...   #6 is a pic of a 1971 D Greaser...  My apologies for the large photos...it's almost 7pm here on the left coast...and I had to work today. I'm simply too darn lazy to re-size them. |

Two very strange (but good) boxes of pennies -- About two weeks ago, I got a federal box from the bank. It turned out to have 27 wheat cents dated 1920 - 1929: 9 x 1920 1 x 1923 2 x 1924 1 x 1925 4 x 1926 6 x 1927 3 x 1928 1 x 1929 no mint marks (and no 1922  ), but still--this box has spoiled me to no end ("Ho hum...another 1920"). Someone somewhere evidently turned in a roll of 1920s LWCs at a bank. After I had looked at about 20 of the rolls and realized what an unusual box it was, I asked my wife to go back to the bank and get another box. Result: the next box also had 27 wheats from 1920-1929. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get back to the bank to get another box. Hopefully this week. |

Great rescue, jdh. No doubt that someone's collection was sacrificed for the good of the family. Glad a collector found them instead of dieing a slow death under a drive-up window.

Found a 1925 S in XF+ over the weekend. Unfortunately some knucklehead has spray painted the obverse in green metallic. What a shame.
Some of you folks are finding some nice coins. My past experience tells me that when you get on a roll like this it keeps going for a few boxes with the pennies.

Believe it or not I got a 1911 d in change the other day, It is so worn and dirty and corroded I think it's been in circulation all this time
