Appears to be a silver piece but with red earthen deposits

Looks like a copper coin that was once silvered?

I have an example of an official issue of that type (although a one star over crescent). A Fouree is a contemporary counterfeit and are desirable and collectable as well.

From my experience, I would say the calculus is a fouree is worth about 20% of the original, depending on condition of course. When your left with just a bronze core and no silver it has to be a fouree of a really expensive coin to be worth very much. Now some of those Celtic imitations are worth more than the original which interesting as well.
