The coin is in pretty bad shape, but I think this might be a double die. Looking for input from those who know a lot more than me (which is most of the people on this forum because I am a newbie). Thanks

Nice find.

These always seem to be in a similar condition as yours.

edit: on second look, yours might be a bit nicer than usual -- I can see a distinction between the cheek and jaw.

Cherry pick? Coin roll hunting?

Thanks, probably my best coin roll find ever! It is tough to tell from the picture but my uneducated guess is about a VF-20. The back is slightly better than the front. How good of a condition should it be in for me to send it off to get graded?

CentSation - what is the difference between coin roll hunting and cherry picking? I am relatively new to this (it is a Covid hobby) and I assumed cherry picking was just picking the easy stuff out of a roll.

WOW! Amazing find! These are very rare and even rarer in better grades. I agree, DDO-001 FS-101. Congratulations!

Once again here is a bad picture with my phone, but here is the back. It is pretty dirty, but there are still some details.

That is a very good find for CRH. You are probably close on the VF -- A distinction between the jaw and cheek is a good sign.

To answer your question, cherrypicking is generally done on an auction site such as ebay where you don't purchase rolls of coins. You just peruse the available coins and buy the ones that you want. CRH is where you buy [or collect] rolls of coins and are stuck with all the left-overs, LOL.

You did well.

edit: for a VF you should be able to see all reverse wheat lines -- not sure yours is quite there. Still nice.

edit: I see no verdigris so you are good -- just protect it.

Very nice find! One I hope to add to the collection someday. Tough to give a grade without better pics, but I see this in the F range, not VF, Nice nonetheless!

Very nice find indeed. Just a note:It is a doubled die not a double die.

Yes it is!
Congrats on a hard to find variety.

I had similar luck with the same variety (VF40) when I got back into collecting 7 years ago, so I feel your joy.
