This thing has got to be rare. It's one of the easiest to see proof doubled dies out there yet other than the photo on VV I've never seen or heard of another one. And it was the last proof DDO listed in the catalog, so in theory that means it took a lot longer for one to get found.

Finally tonight I scored one going through yet another roll of proof 1963. This should be the last of the VV proof DDOs to complete my set, although DDO-010 is arguable and not honestly sure I have that one nailed down or not as the marker is not super clear one way or the other on real coins.

Crazy, almost looks like a die dent, but it isn't

So,the only thing that distinguishes this as a DDO is the mark under the L?. It sure looks like a die gouge to me,and I would need a lot of convincing that it is a DDO.

Congrats on the DDO.
Another of the "wandering" L DDO's. Haven't been able to find many of them myself, even though there seems to be quite a few in the 60's.

John1, IMHO I believe these come about when the lower left corner of the "L" hits the working die by a tilted working hub on the first hubbing and then the working die was slightly rotated CCW for the second hubbing.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

Very nice! Personally I haven't seen a doubled L this far separated. Certainly a neat doubled die! Congrats!
