The coin feels weird and the words on the backside are risen above everything else (besides Monticello). I'm a newbie so I have no idea if this is rare or not.

Looks like a normal nickel to me.

@Guywhojuststart: Going forward, I would encourage you to not hold/grip your coins with metal pliers - they almost guarantee that you will eventually scratch the coin you are holding.
