Hi All, hope everything is going well with yourselves and your families in this harsh times we are all witnessing.

I was searching about Nepalese coins of Gorkha Empire period. In Krause, I noticed that there are presentation coinage issues and they are the most valuable gold coins. I searched about presentation coinage and use of it in Nepal but I couldn't find any source unless I faced in some pages its being used as synonymous of Royal... So without being 100% sure I can tell it can be a coin being minted when a new noble succeed to the throne unless what I see in Krause is...It is mostly for Queens.. but there are few kings as well... So in order to have a better understanding of it I wanted to get your advise and experience.

Girvan Yuddha Bikram Shah does not have a presentation coin
His Queen Gorakshya Rajya Lakshmi Devi Shah has
King Rajendra Bikram Shah has a presentation coin
Queen Samrajya Lakshmi Devi as well. So they both have.
His successor Surendra Bikram Shah does not have a presentation coin but his queen Trailokya Rajya Lakshmi Devi has. And the Crown Prince Trailokya as well. Its a bit confusing...

I don't have specialist experience with Nepalese coins, but I have a good friend, (Upendra), now an Australian citizen, who grew up in Nepal. He may be able to help with some Nepalese coin knowledge, as well as general Nepalese background knowledge and culture.

I believe presentation coins were issued as awards or purchased, the seem to often use different dies and they don't only come in gold.

Oh I haven't thought this way. Maybe by calling it presentation coinage they don't mean to represent but they mean to gift...So it carries the name of the royal that offers the gift...Girvan Yuddha Bikram Shah who seems to be so busy with anglo nepalese war and who died at age 19 did not have time to gift coins... And for King Surendra wiki says that he was like a prisoner in his own palace and Prime Minister was ruling the country. But his queen and the prince could gift coins because the prince was married with the daughter of Prime Minister. Now it makes sense thank you!
