Was fortunate to find another of this variety while searching today. This one is in approximately the same circulated condition as my first but, may be a different stage [or just worn a bit more] since the secondary was much more difficult to capture in a pic. Hopefully it shows well enough.

The blue arrow points to the secondary MMs upper curve and the pink arrow points to the secondary MMs serif notch.

A question for the pros:
This second copy has what appears to be almost identical MD to my first copy.

Isn't MD on a coin-by-coin basis? By that I mean one coin might have it but, the next might not.

Thanks

Very nice RPM, on a rarer cent as well!

Thanks.

Yes, rarity is a like a double-edged sword - they are harder to obtain but, if you do obtain some then, the chance of getting the RPM is much greater.
For instance, I started with three rolls of the 28-Ss and out of those I have about twenty of the large-S variety and, out of those I have two RPM-003s and one RPM-001. I believe I also had an RPM-002 from this lot. So, not too bad.

That being said, I don't think the 'large-S' variety is as scarce as some would have you believe and not sure why it has an FS#/cherrypicker number.

MD certainly carries over from coin to coin at times, sometimes for many coins. In BU rolls you can often find the exact same MD on multiple coins from the same die. It's not a definable characteristic like a mark on the die, but MD is sometimes used as a "potential" die marker since if one example has it there is some reasonable chance others will and sometimes many others.

Ahh, interesting -- Did not know that. Will have to remember that for future searches.
