The State Religion Of Rome: Deification Coinage - Recent Pickups

For some reason this topic resonated with me and I've leaned towards it since I started collecting ancients almost 7 years ago.

Here are some recent pickups I thought I'd share.




Both of these were minted by Trajan Decius as a propaganda move to shore up his dynasty at a time when the empire had become brittle. Known as the Crisis of the Third Century, the treasury was empty, the legions were restless, and the empire was overstretched.

The effort failed, and his dynasty lasted all of 3 years, ending with the deaths of Decius and his son at the Battle of Arbritus.
