I've only been working off and on with proofs for around a year now, and so haven't really seen enough of them to understand what's what.

This 1960 proof is a light class II DDR (which I have not attributed yet) as can be seen on the NE in the photo. It's about the same on all the devices from T in CENT around counterclockwise to the last S in STATES. Not much to see on OF AMERICA. Generally a light spread with a light hubbing so not even sure it is listed.

But what I have been trying to figure out is what appears to be fairly nice class V doubling of the building at the designer's initials. This is the first time I've seen doubling like this on a reverse that I can remember. Appears very similar to the "bar under L" obverse doubled dies on some years where nothing but just that little bit shows as doubled.

Anyone have any information on this? Agree it is class V? Not a major DDR by any shakes, but I am curious.

1960 Lincoln Memorial cent doubled die - class II but also class V on right building corner?

Not my area, but could it have something to do with over polishing the die?

Excellent images, especially for a proof. Do you think your example is Cameo (lite "frosting" on all devices)?

I see the secondary building corner by the initials and agree it is some form of die doubling. IMHO, the strike is way too sharp and clear to be from die maintenance. Because there is still some decent frosting of the devices this seems like an MEDS or EMDS coin.

I've only found a few proof varieties myself so I can't add anything definitive to your question TB, but agree that there are many years where there is a combination of classes of doubling. Your images make a good case for both classes of doubling on this coin.

doubleddies.com does list master die doubling for the Obv. of 1960, with lite separation on the lower part of IGWT, but none for the reverse.
WDDO-0022 does show doubling on top of the building base like yours exhibits, without the thickness on the initials. (Scroll to the bottom of the page.)

I saved this link you(I think) posted for master die doubling at Lincoln Cents Online and it does list Master die doubling for 1960 but the links for individual years aren't working for me so I'm not sure if yours might be that.

How did I miss that? Maybe because it is the last one all the way down the page, apparently found by Brian Ribar not so long ago. I will have to pull mine out and check the marker but it looks exactly right on the memorial and has the class II on ONE CENT. Gotta be it!

Thanks sooo much for spotting that. Much appreciate your time digging through those listings to help me out.
