Hi, I just found this 1983 D Quarter and I think, and so far I'm the only one that's looked at it, that the mintmark used to be an S or possibly a P and was then struck again with the D. Can you see what I see from these pics?

To me, it looks like a damaged D & has no resemblance to an S or a P.

The D has just taken a hit that has flattened it.
Overprinted Mint Marks stopped in 1955.

Oh, I did not know that, good to know thank you. Now I can stop looking for over print on a lot of these coins.
