I am sure Susan and I can be bribed! Money and coins can buy just about anything!
NDGOFLO I must admit I hated to send it out after getting a little attached to the coins! Looked really good sitting on the entertainment center! Got other new projects in my head now because of this unique undertaking! Also might add if any of you have the desire to put specific coins into a wooden display feel free to email me or Susan and we will get on the drawing board and see what we can come up with. I am not free but very reasonable!
I am currently thinking of U.S. dollars (Morgan, Peace, Ike, SBA, Sackie and the Eagle in a holder! Also the U.S. cents, Large Cent, Flying Eagle, Indian, Lincoln Wheat, Lincoln Memorial and the Lincoln Steel War cent. Guess there is no end to what can be done as long as I can find the time to do it!
Tnwalker10 it is Red Oak. I will doing most of my custom stuff in Red Oak and Walnut from here on out!

And YES I am currently working on purchasing the coins for a tribute to the Knights of the Coin Table and I can guarantee you this display WILL be one of a kind. The idea is still on the drawing board but it will happen as the coins are starting to arrive for this one! More on this at a later date!!!

Very very nice Terry, it shows a lot of care and thought behind the project, as it should. It's something that anyone would be very pleased to receive and hold for even a short period of time.

After seeing it you had better tool up for an unpresidented surge in orders for similar holders. I sure can see this happening in the near future.

Because I'm not one to be bashful about these things, I will make one sugestion. It's a small one to be truthful, but when it comes to something with as much quality as this shows, it would be the defining factor. Please 'index' the screw heads on the next model. That is all I have to say on the subject.

Yes Old Dan I gave those screws some serious thought and actually left them as they are as kind of a joke. If anyone decides to take the holder apart the best they can do is waste their time removing the screws as the set is SEALED together permanently. The screws served as nothing more than a quick way to line things up after glue was applied. Actually I tried to clamp and glue without the screws and with every attempt I got movement of the wood so I decided to use the screws. If I were to actually use screws so the assembly could come apart they would not be where they are currently located, on either side. (or should I say the obverse or reverse?) They would have had to be around the edges. The holder was made out of 3 pieces of 1/4 inch red oak wood and, due to its unique shape and size, clamping was a bit of a challenge. The front could not be glued until the last coin arrived and the wood finish had to be applied prior to placing the coins in the holder for obvious reasons. My final coat is sprayed so those screws held things into place for the finishing process. They were there to assist me and out of my efforts to get things done I just decided to leave them as they were. I am currently doing a little research into something decorative to use in the event I make a holder that must be opened from time to time? I just don't want those big gaudy plastic screws like Capital plastics uses! I have different ideas at this time but have found nothing that really pleases me as of yet! Rest assured when I get the old wood burner fired up the smoke will be rolling out of my ears and a new idea will be born! I will have to see what comes out of all that empty space between my ears!

Terry, my comment wasn't intended as any thing more than the manner in which the screw driver slot(s) are lined up in relation to each other.
Check it out, on all really fine rifles and shot guns all the screws have their slots all lined up in one direction. Sure they can be removed, and often are, but when they are retightened, they are lined up again. Really gives them something special.

With something a beautiful and nice as this presentation, I just thought it would be extra special to have all the screw slots lined up and what they call "indexed" in the gun making world.

Old Dan thanks for the explanation! I will keep the idea of indexing in my mind the next time around. Got to give you credit! You are pretty darn sharp and always thinking! I am just glad you didn't bring up any of the other mistakes I made! The holder was a learning experience and I did manage to pick up a few tricks for the next one!

I want each and every one of you members out there to know I received the surprise of my life this week. The moderators sent a me a certificate and gift, which was totatlly unexpected, for the work and effort I have put into this set and this great forum we all call home. While rewards are the farthest thing from my mind it is comforting to know that there are folks on this forum who really care about each of us as forum members, collectors and family! What we have done here in the last year is almost beyond belief as collectors from all over the world have come together in such a positive way! This forum has built a reputation that is unequalled around the world. The rules are fair to all regardless of race, politics, religion or culture and they are FIRM with no exceptions. No hate or fear on this site and I personally must commend everyone involved for providing us with the little piece of "coin collector heaven" to hide in! This Perpetual Give-A-Way set which is about to launch is a unique example of what we as collectors can and will continue to do on this forum. I am looking forward to the future of this site and hope each and everyone of you will join me in thanking Susan, Bobby, Mike, Richard, Lim and Rick for their outstanding efforts over the past year that has built this into the premier site that it has become! If anyone ever deserved a Certificate of Appreciation it would be these fine folks! Hopefully each and every member who gets the chance to see and hold the Perpetual Give-A-Way Set will feel the "force" that only this forum could offer in its first year of online operations! Together we truly have become ONE!

I would really like for this to be on the first page "one more time" and it is NOT moving? It is important that all new members get the opportunity to see what has taken place here over the past year and that we all will continue to build upon the foundation a small amount of collectors have set in place. Looking forward to all the "tomorrows" with each and every one you!

AND, as you have noticed IT DID MOVE TO PAGE 1!!!

Hi Terry, Great job- very attractive. People ahve been framing coins usually singles for gifts. I had a friend who got a Maria Theresa Proof Thaler from me- to give to his daughter for a Christmas Present. He had a picture framer encase the coin in Pecan wood- as you have done with yours, then he had a red velvet background for the Encased Coin to be placed on within the Pecan wood Frame- It was beautiful- and his daughter was estatic.
