1938 50C New Rochelle, SP65 NGC. Both grading services now acknowledge the Specimen status of certain New Rochelle half dollars. Allegedly, only 50 presentation pieces were struck. These pieces are distinguished by the profound depth of mirroring seen in the fields on each side. This particular example also shows just the slightest hint of toning, which allows the essentially brilliant surfaces to fully exhibit the reflective fields.
